How Much Does a Website Cost in India? (2026 Price Guide)

Real 2026 website prices in India: what ₹10,000, ₹50,000, and ₹2,00,000 actually buy, why quotes vary 10x for the 'same' website, and the questions that reveal whether a price is fair.

Ask five Indian agencies to quote the same website and you'll get numbers from ₹8,000 to ₹3,00,000. All five will call it a "dynamic, SEO-friendly, mobile-responsive website." So what does a website actually cost in India in 2026 — and why do quotes vary this wildly?

Here's the honest breakdown we give our own clients.

Website costs in India by type (2026)

  • Basic business website (5–8 pages): ₹15,000 – ₹45,000. Company profile, services, contact form, mobile responsive, basic SEO setup.
  • Professional business website (10–20 pages): ₹45,000 – ₹1,00,000. Custom design, CMS so you can edit content, blog, analytics, faster performance, proper on-page SEO.
  • E-commerce store: ₹75,000 – ₹3,00,000. Product catalogue, payment gateway (UPI, cards, COD), shipping integration, GST invoicing, inventory management.
  • Custom web application: ₹2,00,000+. Login systems, dashboards, booking engines, portals — anything where users do things, not just read.

If a quote sits far below these ranges, you're almost certainly buying a template with your logo swapped in — which is fine, as long as you know that's what you're buying.

Why quotes vary 10x for the "same" website

Template vs custom design

A ₹10,000 website is a pre-made theme filled with your content in a day or two. A custom-designed site involves wireframes, brand-specific design, and revisions — that alone is 3–5x the effort.

Who's actually building it

A freelancer moonlighting after college costs less than a registered agency with designers, developers, and a project manager. Both can be right for different projects — but agency overhead buys you accountability, testing, and someone to call in year two.

The technology underneath

WordPress with a page builder is cheap to build and slower to run. A hand-coded Next.js site costs more upfront but loads in under a second, scores 90+ on Google's Core Web Vitals, and ranks better. For a business that depends on Google traffic, the performance-first approach pays for itself.

What "SEO included" actually means

In cheap quotes, "SEO" means installing a plugin. Real SEO setup — keyword-mapped page titles, schema markup, sitemap, Search Console configuration, page-speed optimisation — is skilled work that affects your quote and, later, your traffic.

Ongoing costs nobody mentions in the sales call

  • Domain: ₹800 – ₹1,500/year
  • Hosting: ₹3,000 – ₹15,000/year for business sites; more for high-traffic e-commerce
  • SSL certificate: free (Let's Encrypt) — treat anyone charging ₹5,000/year for SSL as a red flag
  • Maintenance: ₹1,500 – ₹5,000/month for updates, backups, security patches, and small changes

Questions that reveal whether a price is fair

  • Can I see three live websites you built, with performance scores?
  • Is the design custom or template-based? (Either answer is fine; lying about it isn't.)
  • Who owns the domain, hosting, and code? (The only correct answer: you do.)
  • What exactly does the SEO setup include?
  • What happens after launch — support, changes, costs?

The bottom line

In 2026, a good business website in India costs ₹25,000–₹60,000, serious e-commerce starts around ₹75,000, and custom platforms begin near ₹2,00,000. Cheaper exists, and sometimes it's enough — but a website is the one employee that works 24/7; hiring the cheapest candidate has a cost of its own.
