Privacy Policy

TechAppDev ("we", "us", or "our") built the AI OCR — Image Text Scanner app to help you extract text from images quickly and accurately. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it. Please read this policy carefully. If you disagree with its terms, please discontinue use of the app.

Information We Collect

  • Account information — your email address when you sign in or create an account within the app.
  • Images you scan — images are transmitted to Google's Gemini API to perform OCR text extraction. Google processes these images in accordance with its own privacy policy and data usage terms. Images are not stored on our servers.
  • Extracted text — OCR results are returned directly to your device and are not stored or retained on our servers.
  • Usage analytics — anonymised, non-identifiable event data (e.g., which features you use, session duration) collected to help us improve the app. This data cannot be used to identify you personally.
  • Crash and diagnostic reports — device model, OS version, app version, and error stack traces collected automatically to help us identify and fix bugs.
  • Device information — device type and operating system version, used solely for compatibility and performance optimisation.

How We Use Your Information

  • To provide and operate the OCR text extraction features of the app.
  • To authenticate your account and keep your session secure.
  • To analyse anonymised usage patterns and improve app performance, accuracy, and new features.
  • To diagnose crashes and technical issues, and release fixes.
  • To respond to support requests or enquiries you send us.
  • To comply with applicable legal obligations.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

  • We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party.
  • We use the Google Gemini API to power OCR text extraction. Images you scan are sent to Google's servers for processing. Google's use of this data is governed by the Google Cloud / Gemini API Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy.
  • We use trusted third-party service providers (e.g., cloud infrastructure, analytics platforms, crash reporting tools) strictly to operate and improve the app. These providers are bound by confidentiality agreements and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
  • We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or other valid legal process.

Data Retention

  • Images submitted for OCR processing are deleted from our servers immediately after the text extraction result is returned — typically within seconds.
  • Account data (email address) is retained for as long as your account remains active.
  • Anonymised analytics data may be retained for up to 24 months for product improvement purposes.
  • Crash and diagnostic logs are retained for up to 90 days.
  • Upon account deletion, all personally identifiable data is removed within 30 days. See our Data Deletion page for how to request deletion.

Data Security

  • All data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS / TLS.
  • We implement access controls, regular security reviews, and industry-standard safeguards to protect your data.
  • No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we take every reasonable precaution, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children's Privacy

  • The AI OCR — Image Text Scanner app is not directed at children under the age of 13.
  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Your Rights

  • You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you.
  • You may request a copy of your data or ask us to restrict or stop processing it.
  • You can request full account and data deletion, or data-only deletion while keeping your account, via our dedicated deletion request page.

Changes to This Policy

  • We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the app or applicable law.
  • We will notify you of significant changes via an in-app notice or email.
  • The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
