The Challenge
Every popular online image compressor works the same way: you upload your file to someone else's server, wait, then download it back. That is slow, it breaks on large batches, and it means handing private photos, ID scans and design files to a third party. The brief was to build a compressor and converter that never uploads anything, still handles the long tail of formats people actually have, and ranks for the very specific searches users type — "compress image to 20kb", "heic to jpg", "UPSC photo resize".
Our Solution
We built a React and Vite single-page app deployed on Vercel, where JPG, PNG, WebP and AVIF are compressed and converted entirely on the user's own device and never leave the browser; the heavier formats like RAW and PSD use secure in-memory processing that stores nothing, with EXIF metadata stripped by default. The workspace pairs a drag-and-drop canvas — plus Google Drive and Dropbox import — with a global settings panel for quality, exact target size in KB, dimensions and aspect-ratio locking. On top of the tool we built a programmatic SEO layer: 147 format-to-format conversion pages, target-size landing pages from 10 KB to 5 MB, use-case pages for social, email, web, print, e-commerce and documents, and India-specific exam photo resizers for UPSC, SSC, RRB and IBPS — the whole set generated across 14 languages, backed by a 13-post blog, for roughly 2,500 indexable URLs. It ships as an installable PWA that works offline, with a dark/light theme and self-hosted variable fonts, and analytics deferred until idle to keep the critical path light.
The Results
The tool is live and free with no signup, no watermark and no usage limits. Because compression happens on-device, there is no upload wait and no per-file server cost as traffic grows, and the multilingual programmatic pages give the site a wide organic surface across format, file-size and exam-photo queries.
